Gladys King

King – Mrs. Gladys E. King, age 82, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 20, 2021.  Born in Michigan, Gladys trusted Christ at age 12.  Gladys grew up in Bridgton, Michigan and met Forrest King through a phone conversation at Violet’s, who was a mutual friend.  They were married at age 19.  After their marriage, Gladys became a stay- at- home wife and mother.  Her spiritual gifts were hospitality, music, and serving others.  She taught Sunday school, hosted the 5 Day Bible Club, was a youth leader for Word of Life, and played the piano and accordion regularly at church.  Her hobbies included reading which she enjoyed in her spare time.  She was also an exceptional speller.  Gladys proudly graduated from the Muskegon School of Business and held various jobs, including bookkeeper, nurse’s aide, a school monitor, and culinary staff at her children’s schools.  Gladys loved being with her family and loved ones as much as possible.  Glady’s life was certainly an example of Proverbs 31, The Virtuous Woman.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, faithfully serving her Lord.  In her last months, Forrest spent his time giving care and compassion to the love of his life whom he tenderly referred to as “my sweetheart”. Gladys is survived by Forrest, her loving husband of 61 years; children: David and Debbie King of Virginia, Gina and Scott Botruff of Sand Lake, Mark and Kathy King of Muskegon, Mike and Kim King of Grant, Matt and Tonya King of Big Rapids, Lisa and A.J. Anielski of Cedar Springs; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; brother, Bernie and Roseline Mclean; many nieces and nephews.
