Gertrude Louise Hawkins

Gertrude Louise (Teater) Hawkins age 89, of Alto, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. Gert was the eldest daughter of Lester and Ruth Teater, born May 10th 1934. She married Raymond Lee Hawkins on May 14th 1955 at Park Congregational Church. Gert graduated from Caledonia Rural Agricultural School in 1953. She served as a nursery worker and greeter at First Assembly of God for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Hawkins; sisters, Pauline Takens, Janet Dalley, Ella Jackson; brothers, George Teater, Chet Teater; brother-in-law, Lou Takens; daughters-in-law, Dede Hawkins, Mary Hawkins. She will be lovingly remembered by Raymond (Penny) Hawkins Jr., James Hawkins, William Hawkins, Roy David (Kathy) Hawkins, John (Sandy) Hawkins, Mary (Chad) Crosby; seventeen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Bart Dalley, Richard (Joyce) Hawkins; sisters-in-law, Carol and Cindy Teater; many neighbors and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday, November 20, 2023 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 616 E. Main St. SE, Caledonia, with Rev. Alan Leonhandt officiating. Burial will be held at Lakeside Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 4-7 pm and also on Monday from 10-11 am all at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Caledonia American Legion Post 305.
