Gertrude Bremer-Erickson

Gertrude Bremer-Erickson (nee Bytwork), age 91, of Jenison, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. She was a woman of faith and love, a prayer warrior, letting her light shine as a Calvinette leader, Sunday school teacher, and by singing in the choir for many years at First Jenison CRC. She still attended luncheons held by members of a Sunday school class she taught over 65 years ago. She was one to remember everyone’s birthday or a special occasion with a card. Preceding her in death are her husbands, Maurice Bremer and Charles Erickson; sister, Dorothy Visser; stepson, Bryan Erickson; seven brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law. She leaves to mourn her passing a son, Brian and Renee Bremer; grandson, Dustin and Brittany Bremer; two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Anna; brother, Albert Bytwork; sisters, Winifred Nykamp, Mary Wondergem, Beverly and Ken Nyenhuis; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jean Bosma, Roger Bremer, Ron and Tena Bremer, Brenda Essenburg, Elaine Aukeman; stepchildren, Gloria Erickson, Melinda and Elmer Lau, Mark Erickson, Emily Torres; six step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who all had to give their “great” Aunt Gert a hug; dear friend, Sharon Schut; and friends from her Shaklee business and her Sandy Pines retreat. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021, 11 a.m. at Baldwin Street Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin St., Jenison, with Pastor Don Van Slyke officiating. Burial Floral View Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday, May 2, from 2-5 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Unity Christian High School.
