Gertrude Bloomer

BLOOMER - Gertrude (Kooistra) Bloomer (born on August 2, 1921) slipped the bonds of earth to arrive safe in her Savior's arms in the early morning of December 13, 2011. She died as she had lived, surrounded by the children who were her joy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her great granddaughter, Ava Buck; her daughters-in-law, Bette Bloomer and Karen Bloomer; one sister, Anne Homkes; and two brothers, Clarence Kooistra and Jake Kooistra. Gertrude is survived by her seven children, Judith Hildreth (Bill), Ronald Bloomer (Barb), Richard Bloomer, Jean Syswerda (John), Jill Meyer (Ron), Robert Bloomer, Russell Bloomer (Lori). She also leaves behind 24 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren; as well as two brothers, Sidney Kooistra (Joanne) and Jim Kooistra (Alice); and two sisters, Birdie Den Hartog (Robert) and Jackie Tuinstra. Her greatest joys in living were her family and her faith. She was always quick to offer encouragement, a bit of silliness, and a beautiful smile. The family thanks the staff at Oakcrest Amsterdam Manor, Jenison, Michigan, for their loving care over the last several years.
