Gerrit Holstege

Gerrit Holstege, age 94, of Hudsonville, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, June 9, 2015. Gerrit loved serving the Lord through his church. He experienced God’s covenant faithfulness through the children of the church and the Christian Schools. He proudly served our country during WWII as a member of the United States Army. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Martha (Dykema); their children, Gary (DaVonna) Holstege, Mary Jane (Douglas) Prince, Allen Holstege, Nancy (Donald) Vander Iest, Joyce Holstege, Sharon (David) Kraker; grandchildren, Mical Holstege, Nathan (Courtney) Holstege, Ross Holstege, Hilary (Trevor) Indo, Nicole (Russell) Thrasher, Daniel (Rachel) Vander Iest, Justin (Misty) Vander Iest, Alex Vander Iest, Jared Kraker, Tyler Kraker, Austin Kraker; great grandchildren, Milo, Logan, Ryder, Aiden, Tinsley, Arden, Fulton, Turner; sisters, Florence Haveman, Elizabeth (Melvin) Brink; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jean Holstege, Ruth Dykema, Charles (Ruth) Dykema, Andrew (Carrol) Dykema, Benjamin (Char) Dykema; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday 1 pm at Hudsonville Protestant Reformed Church, 5101 Beech Tree, Hudsonville, with Rev. Garrett Eriks officiating. Interment Floral View Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 4-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.
