Gerrit Byker, age 76, of Jenison, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 18, 2014 and went to be with his Lord. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn; children, Gary and Lori (Ben, Anna), Peter and Sara (Hailey, Tessa, Emma, Jack, Samuel), Barry and Melissa (Eden, Lincoln, Jenson); sisters, Tena and Jim Lucas, Marge and John Kuiper; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Evelyn Hamberg, Sharon and Marv Koetje, Rich and Ruth Driesenga, Marcia and Rob Wieringa. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday 11 AM at Cottonwood Church, 1101 Cypress, Jenison, with Rev. Matthew Palsrok officiating. Interment Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Cottonwood Church or Love INC.
