ACHTYES - Mr. Gerrit J. Achtyes aged 78 passed away Monday, July 20, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerrit and Cora; brother, Jim; and sister, Judy. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Bertha (nee Zylstra); daughter, Lori (Robert) Beak; grandchildren, Patrick and Brooke Beak; brother, Ron (Sharon) Achtyes; sisters, Carolyn Peevy, Sharon (Wendell) VanEtt, Linda (Mike) Idema; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law; several nieces and nephews. Gerrit's family will greet relatives and friends Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 5PM to 8PM at the Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S. Division Ave. Private family interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Frontline Bible Church Building Fund.
