Family owned and operated for over 85 years.
Gerrie Ann Steketee, age 79, of Jenison, was born on November 5, 1946, in Grand Rapids to Lila (Ahlen) Rockwell and Thomas Rockwell. She passed away on February 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
On July 26, 1969, she married the love of her life, Donald Steketee. Together they built a life rooted in devotion, steady commitment, and a deep love for their family.
Gerrie was a proud graduate of Western Michigan University where she earned her teaching degree. She went on to serve as a junior high art teacher in Jenison, sharing her love for art with her students before starting her family with her husband. She later worked for Rolling Hills Golf Course and Maple Hill Golf Course, combining her strong work ethic with one of her greatest joys: golf. She loved time on the course, bowling, crafting projects, playing cards around the table, camping trips, and days at the beach. More than any hobby, however, Gerrie treasured her family. She faithfully attended her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities, always present and always proud. Her steady support and quiet strength shaped generations.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Donald; her children, Heather and Rick Ensing, Rebecca and Robert Meloche, and BJ and Jenny Steketee; grandchildren: Sandra and Leah Aquino, Andrew Guelzo, Olivia and Tyler Akers, Megan and Mason Schneider, Alexa Meloche, Madalyn Darrow, Toby and Luci Ensing, Abigail and Nathan Appel, Allison Ensing, Grace Steketee, Maxwell Meloche, Lauryn Darrow, Elijah Steketee, Mya Steketee, and Hope Steketee; and great-grandchildren, Jhett Aquino, Maverick Schneider, and Marshall Schneider. Gerrie is also survived by her sister, Mary Ellen Driscoll and her twin sister, Kerry Neuman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lila and Thomas Rockwell. Gerrie’s legacy is one of creativity, loyalty, laughter, and unwavering love for her family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the lives she touched.
