Gerd Klunder

Gerd Klunder, 78, peacefully passed away Saturday, Jan 18, 2020. Born in Germany in 1941, Gerd moved to the United States as a teenager where he attended Davison High School, and earned degrees from General Motors Institute and the University of Michigan. He made his career at A C Spark Plug Engineering and was an avid reader and collector in his spare time. Gerd was a truly unique soul who had a love for exploring the natural world, animals, scuba diving, and thinking outside of the box. A dedicated uncle and great uncle, he generously supported the lifelong learning of his family members and friends.

Gerd will be remembered by his brothers, Wilhelm (Bill) and Edgar (Ed) Klunder; sisters-in-law, Allyson Klunder and Kathy Pickens; cousin, Ken Kluender and family; nieces and nephew, Andrea, Savannah, and Morris, and their families. Memorial will be Monday, January 27, 2020 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, MI 49508, visitation with family from 6:00-7:00pm, service at 7:00pm.
