Geraldine Buurstra

Mrs. Geraldine “Gerry” Buurstra aged 86 of Wyoming, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen F. Buurstra; parents, John and Jacoba VanHouten; brother, Arthur VanHouten. Surviving are her children, Jeff (Betsy) Buurstra, Jim (Missie) Buurstra, John (Debbie) Buurstra; grandchildren, Amanda (Alex) White, Allie (Simon) Bernard, Brittany (Jake) Rilett; Brad, Bruce, Drake, Cade, Blair Buurstra; great grandchildren, Brooke and Leon White, Tess Bernard; brothers, Melvin (Keiko) VanHouten, Roger (Shirley) VanHouten; sister, Joan Johnson; sister-in-law Amaryliss Buurstra; several nieces and nephews. Gerry was a faithful Detroit Tiger’s fan and loved watching her grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with her great grandchildren. In their retirement years Gerry and Owen took many trips in their motor home and spent several winters in Panama City Beach, FL. Gerry was a longtime member of Rogers Heights CRC and currently a member of Faith Community CRC.  She retired from AAA after 35 years.  Private family services were held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  Memorial contributions in Gerry’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Faith Community CRC.  To share a photo, memory and sign the family’s online guestbook please visit  www.stegengafuneralchapel.com.
