Gerald Muizelaar

Gerald “Geert” Muizelaar, age 95, of Byron Center, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 19, 2018. Geert was a man of great faith, patience and quick wit. He was a championship horseman in the Netherlands. In 1956, Geert brought his family to America with faith for a better life for his family and for that we are truly grateful. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Henrietta “Hinke” (Pelsma) Muizelaar; son-in-law, Jerry Roberts; stepson, Sidney Algra; grandchildren, Susan Bukala, Antonio Alfonseca; and his parents and siblings. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Ann (Algra) Muizelaar; children, Betty and Klaas De Jong, Duane and Jannet Muizelaar, Fimmy and Bob Hosler, Sylvia and Tom Bukala, Audrey and Tony Van Gessel; stepchildren, Florence and Ken Schumacher, Richard and Sharon Algra, Kathy Algra and John Handlin, Jan and Craig Sackrison; step daughter-in-law, Diana Algra; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Aukje Muizelaar; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Greg Brower officiating. Interment will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to The Potter’s House Christian School.

Daar family, Sorry for your loss! Met your father twice, once with your mother when they took care of tante Bauk. And once with Ane, when they visited my parents.
