Gerald Karsten

Karsten - Gerald W. “Jer” Karsten, age 77, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, November 10, 2020. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh and his ability to make friends with everyone he met. He was the much beloved husband of Sharlene; father to Mike (Mustafa) Karsten, Mary (Eric) Blonk, Mark (Annette) Karsten, Nathan and Stephanie Weesies; grandfather to 6 grandchildren and greatgrandpa to Jaynie and Bennett. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ella Karsten, and his sister, Julie Homan. He is survived by his brother Pete (Jean) Karsten; brother-in-law Bob (Karen) Homan, and in-laws Vonnie (Ron) Hulst, Elaine (Rick) Dreyer, and Bob (Vicki) Vander Lugt; along with many nieces and nephews. Jer was proud to serve his country in the US Army. He retired from Steelcase after 38 years of service and then worked in lawn maintenance for Plainfield Township.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MOKA Foundation or World Renew.  The family is planning a celebration of his life in the spring.
