Obituary

Remembering Gerald Edward Rose

Gerald Rose, age 86, of Wyoming entered eternal life on Sunday, March 9, 2025. Jerry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. A salesman in the baking equipment industry, he had an outgoing personality and drive that led him to take a leap of faith and start his own business in 1972—Discount Bakery Equipment. His business became a source of pride, built through years of dedication and hard work to provide for his family. For Jerry, the three pillars of his life were his family, faith, and love for golf. He was the life of every gathering, always ready to push people's buttons and challenge those around him, bringing energy and joy wherever he went. His spirit and sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dianne; his daughter, Andrea; sister, Darlene. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Jon (Raeleen), Robb (Emilie), Brian (Nicole), and Molly (Michael); grandchildren, Dan (Elizabeth), A.J.(Kelsey), Sarah, Ethan, Nate, Felicia (Malek), Abby, Mia, Kelsey, Atticus, Dahlia, Odette, Brother Bosco, Coley, Jake (Sarah), Isaac, Hannah, Gia, Noah, Aiden, and Jonathan; great grandchildren, Charlie, Peyton, Nèla, Lennon, Micah, and Caleb; sister Andrea (Terry); and friend, Denise “Nadine”. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at St. John Vianney Church.  Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Friday from 2-4 and 6-7:30 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park Ave SW, Wyoming, with a rosary held at 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Help Pregnancy Aid Center.

I spent at least ten years in a men’s group at Church with this amazing man. My children would swim at his and Diane’s house in the summer. He was the most energetic, enthusiastic and full of joy and life man I’ve ever known! He made you smile every time you talked to him. He was also a very deep Thinker and loved to talked about faith and the important things in life. I can’t say just how much he impacted my faith. He will be greatly missed. I have been away from SJV for awhile now and haven’t gotten back that way in a while. I really wish I had gotten to see him before he passed. What a wonderful man!

Dear family and friends of Gerald Rose, You have my heartfelt love, prayers, and condolences forever and a day, Jerry is a very devoted Roman Catholic and we often attended Holy Mass and prayed the Most Holy of Our Mother Mary at St John Vianney Parish. We also shared our life experiences and adventures over lunch at local eateries. On Mondays it was at Marge’s Donut Shop Chapel Room to pray the Most Holy Rosary with customers, friends, and parishioners. Of course and a donut or two with more light conversation and a few of Jerry’s jokes. Jerry always had a friendly perpetual smile and greeting for everyone. Eternal rest grant onto Jerry O Lord and let Your Perpetual Light shine on him. May he rest in Your Everlasting Peace for all Eternity. God’s Love and mine always, Ray Skiba

Jerry was an absolutely amazing man. I appreciated all the opportunities he was able to give me and support me through his many businesses. I’m saddened by the fact that I will be traveling this weekend. It will not be able to attend, but please know that the family is in our prayers.

Although I only met him once, I will never forget how kind, welcoming, and inclusive he was towards me and my family. He was a beautiful soul and I know his light will continue to shine through his children and grandchildren.
