George Raimonds Linde

George Raimonds Linde, age 81, entered eternal rest on Thursday, May 2, 2024. He was born on December 30, 1942, in Riga, Latvia and came to the United States with his parents in 1949. George sometimes talked about his first taste of chocolate, which he received from American GIs in a displaced persons camp in Germany and about saluting the American flag as his ship sailed into Boston Harbor. He loved the country that welcomed him and was always proud to be called an American. As a child, George learned thrift and foresight from his immigrant parents. He always had a goal and a plan. These skills served him well during his 36 years of employment at the Keeler Brass Company. George was a 1960 graduate of South High School and a 1965 graduate of Aquinas College. For many years he and his family shared happy times boating and fishing on Bostwick Lake in Rockford, Michigan. He enjoyed entertaining and cooking for guests. George was a generous person, committed to leaving the world a better place. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eduard and Elvira; and by his son, Eric. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Amy (Wood) Linde; son Michael Linde (Mary) of Pella, Iowa; grandchildren, Anna, Noah, and Sarah Linde of Pella; Amber Nguyen (Eric) and Sadie Britton of Grand Rapids; and four great-granddaughters, Marleigh, Elaina, Ivy, and Millie Nguyen. The family is grateful to Faith Hospice and their caregivers. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 11 am at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1025 3 Mile Road NE, Grand Rapids. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Wednesday, June 5, from 6-8 pm at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont, MI and on Thursday, one hour prior to the service at church from 10-11 am. George will be laid to rest at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated to the Westminster Food Pantry or any Heartside Ministry.
