George H. Nelson, Jr.

George H. Nelson, Jr., age 73, of Newaygo formerly of Wyoming, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 23 years, Litsa; children, Eric (Jamie) Nelson, Missy (Matt) Dyke, Justin Nelson, Ellen Filippidis, Yanna (Noah Ogbi) Filippidis; grandchildren, Alex Nelson, Travis Nelson, Mason (Emily) Dyke, Morgan Dyke, Miller Dyke, and Aris Ogbi; sisters, Suzanne Andres and Kris (Mike) Andres; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and family in Greece. George was preceded in death by his parents, George H. and Madge Nelson and parents-in-law, Yannis and Penelopi Kilipozoglou. George proudly served the city of Wyoming as a Police Officer for 31 years. A funeral service will be held 11 am Tuesday, December 9, 2025,  at  Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Drive SW, Grandville, with Rev. Bill VandenBosch officiating.  Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 4-7 pm at  Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Drive SW, Grandville as well as on Tuesday one hour prior to the start of the service from 10-11am. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Wounded Warriors, Heartland Hospice, or to the Wyoming Police Department.
