GUYOTT - George Guyott Sr., 71 of Grand Rapids, MI, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2013. He will be deeply missed by his high school sweetheart, best friend, and beloved wife of 52 years, Patricia (Mennes) Guyott. George lived for and deeply loved his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his son and daughter-in-law, George Guyott Jr. and Lyndi (Kwapis) Guyott of Kentwood, MI, and his daughters, Pam (Guyott) Gilsdorf of Grandville, MI and Nancy Guyott of Indianapolis, IN; George's grandchildren, Kyle and Shelby Gilsdorf, and Dakota, Paige, Courtney, and Lauren Guyott were truly the lights of his life and brought him great joy. Over the years, George experienced the great sadness of losing his father, Fred Byer; mother, Mary Byer; sisters, Rosemary (Guyott) McBurnett and Patty Guyott; and brother, Wilbert "Bing" Guyott. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Betty Guyott; sister-in-law, Pam Guyott; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Russ and Jane Mennes, Sandy Pritchard, and Sherry Minier; as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. As a young man and father, George loved to play pool, poker, and chess with his family and friends. He loved swimming and grilling out on warm sunny days to the sound of country music. Recently, George so enjoyed spending time with his classmates and long-time friends from Kelloggsville High School's graduating class of 1960 and making wood carvings with his friends at the Senior Center. George was a kind and intelligent man, with a wonderful sense of humor. His light-hearted laughter will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. In keeping with the wishes of George, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
