George Arthur Palinski – George A. Palinski, 76, died peacefully on February 22, 2021, at his Jenison home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 23, 1944 in Kankakee, Illinois, the son of Ambrose and Anne Palinski. George attended St. Patrick High School and enjoyed performing with his band, The 4Teens. After graduation he moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan where he had spent his childhood summers with his Aunt and Uncle. He loved fishing the inland lakes which became a lifelong passion. He also enjoyed bowling, and this led to his introduction to Marilyn Joan Lynema, his future bride. He attended Aquinas College and then was drafted to the U.S. Army in 1967. George and Marilyn were married October 28, 1967 and moved to El Paso, Texas where George was stationed. After completing his Military Service, the couple with their two young daughters moved back to Michigan where they added a son to round out the family. Family was the most important thing to George. He proved this over and over with his endless support of his children, and in later years, his grandchildren. Always there to lend a helping hand, sharing his wisdom and cheering from the stands. George retired from Smith’s Aerospace in 2006 where he made many lifelong friends/fishing buddies. Many great memories were made at the family cottage but most special was landing a 21 ½ inch bass this past summer, a personal best, with his son Jerry at his side. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Marilyn, his wife of 52 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Julie Mesman, Lori and Brian Holleman, Jerry and Jennifer Palinski; his beloved granddaughters, Carrie (Dustin), and Ashley Mesman, Kiersten, and Carly Holleman; sister Annette and Kevin Flanigan; sister-in-law Marilyn (Ron – deceased) Lynema; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A private service of remembrance will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
