George A. Elliott

Dr. George Algimon Elliott, age 93, of Hudsonville, formerly of Portage, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, June 16, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Marguerite; parents, George and Mattie (Sullivan) Elliott; brother, Charles F. Elliott; and son-in-law, Glenn C. Shoup III. George is lovingly remembered by his three daughters, Kathleen Elliott, Elizabeth (Robert) McBride and Jennifer (Mical) Pugh; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Eloise Elliott, Betsy Hammond; nieces and nephews. George retired from The Upjohn Company (Pfizer) as a veterinary pathologist. He was an active member of Southridge Reformed Church and The Kalamazoo-Dunes Orchid Society. George served in World War II for the U.S. Navy. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2018, with visitation one hour prior to the service at Southridge Reformed Church, 6726 Texas Drive, Kalamazoo, Michigan, with Rev. Mark Vanderson and Rev. Mical Pugh officiating. Inurnment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Drive SW. Those who wish, may make memorial contributions to Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes, Living Threads in Zeeland or Community Hope of Missaukee County. The family would like to thank Sheldon Meadows Living Center, Alliance Home Health Care Services and Spectrum Health Hospice for their excellent care.
