Gene Zichterman

Gene Arnold Zichterman, age 73, of Allendale, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024, after a lengthy battle with dementia. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Joan; children, Angela and Jason Holthof, Michelle and Derek Torno; grandchildren, Taylor and Max Winkel, Katie Holthof, Zachary Torno, and Natalie Torno; brothers, Rick and Joan Zichterman, Ron Zichterman; sister-in-law, Nancy Zichterman; best friend, Vic Crater; his faithful friends, the builder brotherhood; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Zichterman; and sister, Pat and Gary Schuur. He was a skilled builder and a talented craftsman. Gene enjoyed being in his workshop, hunting, fishing, John Deere tractors, and Fords. He loved spending time with his family, including many years creating memories on Drummond Island. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 13, at 11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf, 6651 Scott St., Allendale, with Rev. Josh Warren officiating. The burial will take place at Allendale Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with family on Tuesday, November 12, from 5-8 p.m. and prior to the service on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
