Gary William Jaarda, age 79, of Cedar Springs, formerly of Wyoming, MI, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved first wife of 51 years, Geraldine and his step-granddaughter, Danielle Fitzpatrick. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Steven Jaarda, Lori (Kevin) Fitzpatrick, Kelly (Tom) Nowicki; grandchildren, Nicole (Mark) Chapman, Kelli (Bret) Hubbard, John (Dawn) Dombrowski, Andrew Dombrowski, Sydney Nowicki and Mallory Nowicki; 8 great grandchildren; his current wife, Barbara Jaarda; two sisters, Diane and Juliet; as well as, many nieces and nephews. He loved being with family, animals, camping and being outdoors, and riding his Harley. Gary proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era. He retired from the GM Fisher Body plant in Wyoming. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Keith Hemmila officiating. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home and on Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
