Gary Vargas

  Gary Lee Vargas, age 73, of Grandville, MI, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017.  He was born in Council Bluffs, IA.  He proudly served our country in the US Air Force for 10 years, working in telecommunications.  As a faithful employee of Graybar Electric Company for 30 years, he retired as Branch Manager.  Gary was a member of the Neal E. Fonger, American Legion Post 179.  In his retirement, he spent many winters in Florida.  His hobbies included golf, computer games, reading and card games.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Fulgencio and Mildred Vargas; sister, Stephanie Vargas.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 39 years, Pat; children, Mike Vargas and Cheryl Moore, Chris Vargas, Mark and Karen Conaty, Cheryl and David Bylenga, Craig and Jackie Conaty; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Nicole and Josh Goodale (Lucas, Grace), Trisha Bylenga, Matt Conaty, Jake Conaty, Cami and A.J. Valdez (Aubrielle), Brandon Conaty; brothers and sisters, Pam Proctor, Greg Vargas, Mercy and Vern Dschaak, Frank and Penny Vargas.  Memorial services will be held Thursday, February 23, 1 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Directors (Grandville, MI) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, with Chaplain Caleb Walcott officiating.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday, February 22 from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to American Cancer Society and Faith Hospice.
