Garald Bronkema

Bronkema – Garald James Bronkema, age 79, was called home to heaven on September 05, 2020 surrounded by loving family and friends.   “Jer” as most knew him, was the best husband, dad, and papa a family could ask for.  His grandchildren (20) & great grandchildren (14) were the light of his life.  “Papa” as they called him rarely missed a chance to attend every sporting event, concert, or family function.  

He captivated anyone he met with his smile and ability to tell a great story!  He was the life of every party!  He loved Elvis music, snowmobiling, and vacations in Florida.

He knew the value of hard work from growing up on the farm.  He spent many years working for Heat & Frost Insulators and Allied Workers Local 47 until he became a Co-Owner of Bronk’s Auto in Rockford, MI with his son Tim.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Henrietta Bronkema; brother, Les Bronkema; sister, Sheila Bronkema.  Jer is survived by his wife, of 19 years, Gloria Bronkema; children, Tim (Vicky) Bronkema, Jan (John) Layton, Marcia (Dave) Przybysz; stepchildren, Tim (Sara) Saladin, Deb (Dave) Keller, Angie (Jon) Miller, Lisa (Troy) Coolbaugh; siblings, Carl (Mary) Bronkema, Richard (Sharon) Bronkema, William (Linda) Bronkema, Arthur (Candis) Bronkema, Steven (Mary) Bronkema, Larry (Shelly) Bronkema, John (Kristine) Bronkema, Mary (Dennis) Tyson; sister-in-law, Sheila Bronkema.  

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 11 at Magnify Church formerly Blythefield Hills Baptist Church, 6727 Kuttshill Drive Ne, Rockford.  The family will greet visitors 9:30 to 11:00 AM Friday at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Magnify Church.  To share a memory or photo and to sign the family's online guestbook, please visit www.stegengafuneralchapel.com.
