Gail Lee Schaidt

Gail Lee Schaidt (Nelson), 74, of Caledonia, Michigan, met her Lord Jesus on Wednesday, December 18th due to natural causes.  Gail was surrounded by family during her last days. Gail was born December 20th, 1949 to Pat and Marvelle Nelson (Breen) in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Gail graduated in 1968 from Godwin Heights in Wyoming, Michigan.  Gail was married August 4th, 1972 to Lawrence J. Schaidt III (Larry) who held her hand for 52 years. She enjoyed gardening and sewing, but her true love was her family who she cherished, adored and always forgave.  She enjoyed the water growing up at the family summer home on Thornapple River and moved to Duncan Lake after her children graduated also from Godwin Heights.  She was a dedicated Lutheran serving the alter guild and faithful her whole life. Gail loved her dogs, the last of which was Cinnamon who preceded her in death by a few months.  Gail was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Lynne Groendyk.  She is survived by her husband, Larry; sister, Carla Coe and her husband, Bruce; sons, Lawrence (LJ) and partner, Julie, Brian and his wife, Erica; grandchildren, Evelyn Schaidt, Elijah Gigowski, Noah Schaidt, Lawrence Schaidt IV and Matthew Schaidt.  Gail was a donor through Gift of Life.  Her body will be cremated and kept at the family home on Duncan Lake.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 from 10-11am, prior to the service at 11am with a lunch to follow at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 8436 Kraft Ave, Caledonia, MI.  In lieu of flowers as Gail loved dogs, please send donations to the ASPCA.
