Fred A. Hanko

Fred A. Hanko, age 86, of Jenison, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, December 28, 2019.  Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, in February 2019 and his daughter, Ellen, in June 1990. Fred dedicated his life to the cause of Protestant Reformed education. In their retirement Fred and Ruth traveled to many British Reformed Fellowship conferences, and they cherished the friendships made with the saints there. A faithful and devoted husband, a godly and loving father and grandfather, Fred will be greatly missed by his children, Janet and Peter Westra, Fred and Cathy Hanko, Carolyn and Brian Dykstra, David and Joan Hanko, Daniel and Andra Hanko, Mary and Angus Stewart; 33 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Herman and Wilma Hanko; sister, Elaine Bos; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Clarence and Betty Schipper, Vern Herder. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 11 am at Faith Protestant Reformed Church, 7194 20th Ave., Jenison, with Rev. Clayton Spronk officiating.  Interment at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday, January 2, from 7-9 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW., and on Friday from 10-11 am at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Christian School of Lynden, Washington.
