March 31, 2024

Frank Herlevich, age 90, of Kentwood, waited for his 90th birthday and Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, to celebrate his first day in Heaven. He was born and raised in Dodgeville, Michigan and met the love of his life, Patsy Lou Hackert, while attending Michigan Tech on Pat’s first weekend of nursing school in the UP. They married the weekend she graduated, changed her name to Patricia Louise, and Susan was born 9 months later. Kathy and Lynn followed and enjoyed a wonderful childhood. He started his career as a car salesman for Volkswagen for years and later started several Tuff-Kote rust-proofing franchises until he retired. Frank and Pat had very adventurous spirits, toting their 3 girls along for all kinds of adventures, from camping, skiing, backpacking and touring the country. The family worked together to build their cottage at Nichols Lake. Frank worked hard, along with Pat, to acquire and remodel more cottages, providing other families the opportunities to make memories to cherish. They moved on to renovate home after home with their handyman skills for countless families. Almost every year of retirement, they began at their home base in Kentwood, traveled to their cottage at Nichols Lake, then Singing Sands on Lake Superior, then Acapulco, Mexico, and finally spring skiing in Park City, Utah before returning home. Their favorite part of retirement was bringing grandkids with them everywhere they went, enjoying them thoroughly and cherishing every moment together. Their last years were spent together in the loving care of Lynn and Chuck between Tennessee and the cottage. Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Patricia; daughter, Susan Herlevich Taylor; grandson, Lee Michael Taylor, granddaughter, Jensina Claire Waterman. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Kathy Waterman, Lynn (Chuck) Rowe; son-in-law, Lee (Anne) Taylor; grandchildren: Paul (Nicole) Taylor, Annalise (Tim) Yearling, Nathan (Megan) Taylor, Arianna (Anthony) Tatasciore, Mark (Hannah) Taylor, Alena Taylor, Brad (Kacie) Rowe, Jacob Rowe, Nick Rowe, Angie Waterman, Lucas Waterman, Mazie Waterman; step grandchildren: Andrea, Kristen and Beth, and their seven children; great grandchildren: Kaylee, Christian, Cole, Kate, Michaela, Mary, Henry, Lucy, Olin, Lorraine, Clayton, Alexander, Evelyn, Francesca, Scarlett, Vivianne, and babies due; brother, Jon Herlevich; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024 at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 1253 52nd St. SE, Kentwood, with Rev. Peter Vu presiding. Burial will be held at Garfield Park Cemetery.
