Frank Bailey,

Mr. Frank James Bailey Jr. was the second of eight children born to the union of the late Mr. Frank James Bailey Sr. and Ms. Estella F. Bailey. His sister, Dorothy Bailey Quinn, and one brother, Henry L. Bailey, preceded him in death. Frank was born on January 6, 1934 in Memphis, Tennessee. During his early years, the family moved to Greenville, where Frank attended Julia L. Armstrong Elementary and Coleman High Schools. After high school, Frank joined the U.S. Air Force where he served a four year tour. Afterwards, Frank returned to Greenville where he attended trade school for carpentry. He was quite a handyman that performed numerous jobs in the area of home repair and remodeling. Frank was also a self taught musician, chef cook, and funeral home director. These talents allowed him to frequently travel and live in other cities across the country such as Los Angeles, California; Cleveland, Ohio; Chicago, Illinois; Flint and Grand Rapids, Michigan; and other cities. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Greenville and a Mason. Frank departed this life Friday July 29, 2011 at 10:10 a.m. in the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He leaves to lament his passing: his son, Frank Bailey 3rd; five brothers: Albert E. Bailey (Betty) of Mt. Clemens, Michigan; Edward J. Bailey (Katie) of Greenville, Mississippi; Willie E. Bailey (Rosie) of Grayson, Georgia; Gregory C. Bailey (Geraldine) of Yazoo, Mississippi; Donald W. Bailey of Greenville, Mississippi; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held 1:00PM Friday, August 5, 2011 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, 3000 Monroe NE., Grand Rapids, MI. His family will greet relatives and friends one hour prior to the service. Interment Grand Rapids Home for Veterans Cemetery.
