Frances Kretowicz

KRETOWICZ - Frances (Fran) Brunett Kretowicz aged 91 went to be with the Lord, June 16, 2016. She was born May 8, 1925 at the homestead settled by ancestors in 1881 along the Manistee River near Fife Lake, Michigan. Fran graduated from Manton High School in 1943. She then moved to Grand Rapids and found work during war time. Later she found work at Lear where she worked for many years. She retired only to enjoy the children. She is survived by two children, James (Karol) Steinebach and Mary Lou VerDuin. She has five grandchildren, Lindsey (Tony), Mike (Megan), Jacob, Mary Fran and DJ and five great grandchildren, Audrey, Elise, Grant, Liam and Sydney, also brother-in-law, Ray Kretowicz; sisters-in-law, Hilda Kretowicz, June Brunette, Betty Brunette and Pat Brunett as well as many nieces and nephews, their children and their children. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Kretowicz and her parents, Leo and Elsie (Bonewitz) Brunett as well as ten siblings, Hilda (Gordon) Evarts, Rose (Charles) Doonan, Eugene "Gene" Brunette, Mary (William) Steinebach, Leota (Walter) Cimo, Andre Paul Brunett, Charles (Mary) Brunett, Catherine (William) Steinebach, John (Joy) Brunett and Felice Brunett. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at St. James Catholic Church, 733 Bridge St. NW, Grand Rapids. Her family will greet relatives and friends on Monday from 5 to 8 PM at the Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Dr. NE, Belmont and one hour prior to Mass at church on Tuesday. Prayers of the Rosary will be recited 7:30 PM, Monday at the funeral chapel. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
