Frances “Fran” Sterk

  Frances “Fran” (Schipper) Sterk, age 91, of Jenison, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 28, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Gerrit Sterk; brother, Jack Schipper; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Marion Sterk, Al and Ann Root, Sam Sterk, Hank and Wilma Sterk.  She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Gary and Karen Sterk, Tom and Diane Sterk, Donald and Wynona Sterk, Karen Sterk, Doug and Terri Sterk; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Neil and Pat Schipper; Jim and Shirley Schipper; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ione and Claire Ehlert, Donna Sterk, Joe and Alice Sterk, Bill and Reet Sterk, Ken and Joyce Sterk, Bob and Betty DeJong, Jeanette Visser, and David Visser. Fran was a loving, faith-filled woman, who was an active member at Bethany United Reformed Church.  She loved to knit afghans for her family members, especially for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Fran enjoyed life and treasured the opportunity to gather with family.  All her life she loved singing in the church choir and at Sunset Manor. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Bethany United Reformed Church, 5401 Byron Center Ave. SW, Wyoming, with Rev. Casey Freswick officiating.  Interment Floral View Memorial Gardens.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and also on Wednesday from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Sunset Legacy Foundation or Faith Hospice.
