DE VRIES - Mrs. Frances E. DeVries, sunrise Jamestown, NC on June 25th, 1931, sunset Grand Rapids, MI on August 17, 2016 at age 85. Mr. Bernard E. DeVries age 86 sunrise South Sioux City, NB on September 24, 1929, sunset Grand Rapids, MI on August 18, 2016. Bernard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frances. They were also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Marilyn Joy. Surviving are their children, Neill (Renee) DeVries, Carla (Steve) Clark, Robin Bice, Diane (Paul) Barscewski, Jack (Lori) DeVries; grandchildren, Lindsay (Mike) St. Germaine, Pieter DeVries, Jill (Jermey) Ejsmont, Jodi (Dan) Wiers, Jenna (Matt) Nadler, Arian (Ben) Nelson, Chris (Meg) Bice, Jack (LeAnn) Bice, Megan (Jon) Schultz, Adam (Brandi) Barscewski, Eric DeVries, Kristen DeVries; great grandchildren, Jarrod, Jersey, Cale, Chase, Colton, Grace, Leah, Cameron, Hannah, Addison and Teddy; special niece and nephew, Cheri and Ed McKay. Bernard and Frances spent many years living in Comstock Park where they raised their family. After Bernard retired from GM and Frances retired from Kelvinator, they moved to their home on Big Bass Lake in Irons. The two of them were avid golfers, loved to visit casinos and enjoyed their winters at Lady Lake in Florida. Bernard proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and was also an avid hunter and fisherman. They truly loved their time at the lake. Funeral services for Bernard and Frances will be held 10:00AM Monday, August 22, 2016 at the Stegenga Funeral Chapel - Belmont, 1601 Post Dr. NE. Their family will greet relatives and friends Sunday from 6 to 8PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment Lakeview Cemetery, Irons.
