Evert “John” Snyder

Evert "John" Snyder, age 77, of Jenison, our much loved husband, dad, and "Papa" unexpectedly left us as the result of a massive stroke and walked into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, April 28, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Adrianna; their children, John Eric Snyder, Stephanie (Jeff) Sale; grandchildren, Samantha Porath (fiance, Bryce Meyer), Chelsie Porath (fiance, Brandon Trask), Baylie Forner; step-grandchildren, Nick, Brandon, and Troy Sale; brother, Bill (Ruth) Snyder; brothers-in-law and sisters-in law, Don (Lois) Alderink, Russ (Sharon) Alderink; many nieces and nephews. John was a graduate of Grandville High School and retired from the CSX Railroad in 2002 after 40 years of service. He was an avid reader and enjoyed sailing, fishing, traveling, camping, Bible study, golf, visiting the sick, politics and walking his dog. John had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a member of Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church where he served on the M.M.O.R.E. committee and as deacon. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church, 1571 Baldwin Street, Jenison with Rev. Leonard Kuyvenhoven officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Drive and Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to M.M.O.R.E. c/o Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church.

My condolences to the Snyder families. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of dear Evert. Some Bible scriptures that have helped me during times of loss include Isaiah 26:19 and Psalm 37:28,29 which says "Your dead ones will live...They will rise up". And the Bible also says at John 5:28, 29- "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". This is possible thanks to the ransom of Jesus Christ. Thus, we have a genuine hope of everlasting life in a world without wickedness or suffering. I hope that these scriptures will be of some comfort to you.
