Evelyn (VanderMolen) Doyle, age 98, of Wyoming, Michigan. After a long, loving and remarkable life, our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother joined our Lord on Sunday, September 9, 2018. Evelyn was born in Beaverdam, Michigan, on January 3, 1920. Daughter of the late Klaas “Clarence” and Evertje “Effie” (Zoet) VanderMolen. Wife of the late Kenneth Leslie Doyle. Sister of the late Harold Chester VanderMolen. Mother of Darlene Nelson (Richard) of Hastings, Michigan, Marcia Broskey (David) of Brownstown, Michigan, Barbara Jones (Richard) of North Las Vegas, Nevada, K Scott (Denise) of Lake Orion, Michigan and Thomas (Nancy) of Byron Center, Michigan. Grandmother of Patti, Pamela, Paige, David, Melisa, Chad, the late Brian, Allison, Ryan, Abigail, Kenneth and Madeline. Great-grandmother of Kati, Alexis, Samuel, Ronald, Matthew, Kelsi, Maicee, Lezlie, Cayden, Evelyn, Ainsley, Preston, Cameron, Kate, Jack, John and James. Great-great-grandmother of Kennedi, McKinlee and Mason. Evelyn grew up in Holland, Michigan...graduating early with honors. She danced and marched in the Tulip Festival Parade and loved Lake Michigan. Kenneth and Evelyn were married for almost 48 years. In addition to raising five children, Evelyn worked at numerous jobs – retiring from Meijer. She spent over 30 years during the winter months in her beloved Siesta Key, Florida, with another 6 winters in North Las Vegas, Nevada. Evelyn loved her husband and they loved to travel together. She escaped to many destinations on cruises…going to Europe and Hawaii. They also enjoyed the Gulf of Mexico and soaking in the beautiful Florida sunshine…giving Evelyn that golden tan! Evelyn loved playing bingo and penny slots at the casinos. She was an active member of St. Francis Xavier, St. John Vianney and St. Dominic Parishes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 50 Bellevue SW, Wyoming, with Fr. Jose Luis Quintana and Fr. Joachim Lally presiding. Evelyn will be laid to rest next to her dear husband, Kenneth in Resurrection Cemetery at 4100 Clyde Park Ave SW, Wyoming, Michigan. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Friday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Drive SW. An additional visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00-9:45 a.m. prior to the service. There’s no way to summarize a loved ones life in so few words, but these words make me feel like I knew her just a bit more. Scott and Denise, We loved reading her obituary, she sounds like a fun person who had a rich life. I am sure she will be missed. I loved reading about her marching in the tulip parade, going to the Tulip Festival is on my bucket list. Peace be with you.
