Evelyn B.  Schippers

Schippers, Evelyn B. Evelyn B. Schippers (Haveman), saved by grace, went home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at the age of 89.  Evelyn suffered with dementia for the past few years, but is now free to laugh, walk, and remember all the good times and people in her life.  She was a generous and loving mother and grandmother.  One of her chief joys was having her children and grandchildren sitting around her table for Sunday dinners and on holidays.  Evelyn often served in leadership capacities in her church, 12th Avenue Christian Reformed, and was a teacher of piano for many years.  She was preceded in death by husband of 61 years, Louis, and her daughter, Elaine.  Surviving are her children, Robert and Fran Schippers, William and Jan Schippers, Lou Ann and Rex Kloostra, Richard and Zelda Schippers; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.  Evelyn was the daughter of Conrad and Anna Haveman of Martin, and the oldest of 9 children.  Four sisters have preceded her in death:  Ruth Metz, Bernice Vande Streek, Marjorie Shoemaker, and Laura Pierce.  She is survived by Crystal Rook, Carl Haveman, Laurence Haveman, and Helen DeVries.  Funeral services will be held 11 am on Wednesday at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive with Rev. Mark Bennink and Rev. James Evenhouse of 12th Avenue Christian Reformed Church officiating.  Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family from 7-9 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home and 10-11 am on Wednesday prior to the service. The family would like to thank the wonderful staffs of Sunset Manor (Reflections), Georgetown/Cambridge Manor and Faith Hospice for the loving care given to Evelyn.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Sunset Association or Georgetown Manor.
