Remembering Evan Schutter

Evan Schutter, age 25, of Grandville, lost his long battle with addiction and passed away peacefully Sunday, May 29, 2016.  He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Raymond Schutter.  Evan will be greatly missed by his son, Kayden; parents, Kent and Shari Schutter; sister, Emily; grandparents, Carolyn and Ronald Mansdoerfer, Dumont and Vera Henderson; many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Evan was loved and will be remembered for his big smile, kind heart and great sense of humor.  He graduated from Grandville High School in 2009 and enjoyed playing football and basketball.  Most of all, Evan cherished the memorable times he spent with his 3 year old son, Kayden, whom he adored.    Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 11:00 am at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Chapel, 4145 Chicago Dr., Grandville, MI  49418 with Dr. Ronald Mansdoerfer officiating.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, June 3 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm and 10:00 – 11:00 am Saturday at the funeral home.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to “Educational Fund for Kayden”.  Condolences may be sent online at www.mkdfuneralhome.com.

"Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift, thats why its called the present." Brenna and I were remembering how Evan would always say this and how he wanted that quote to be center on our quote wall. I think he would want us to all live that way! Prayers for peace, guidance and healing for family and friends close to Evan.

I read this today and wanted to share it along with my deepest sympathies: A Blessing For You May you be made holy in your helplessness, when you must stand powerless in the face of realities that are not in your control. At those times may you look around with compassion for those who share your vulnerability, and may you realize together that you need not stand alone. May you know the reality of God's presence and the mystery of God's power in your life. May the Power of God bless you. --©Maxine Shonk, OP
