Eugene John Kerner, age 73, of Allendale, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. Gene was preceded in death by his son, Philip Kerner; parents Cletus and Margaret Kerner; sister-in-law, Diane Smith. Gene will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Jeanne Kerner; daughters, Angie and Adam Barksdale, Leann and Randy Kooistra; grandchildren, Alaina, Jacob, Joseph Barksdale, Kyle, Caden, Kaleb Kooistra; brother, Ronald and Dorothy Kerner; sister, Joyce and Gary Maag; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Gene was a great family man. He enjoyed playing cards or just spending time with his family. He was a hard-working man who made a living as a carpenter and then hauling feed for many years. His devotion to his family will be dearly missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 1pm at St. Luke University Parish 10144 42nd Ave., Allendale, MI. Friends and family may meet with the family from 12-1 pm and from 2-3 pm at the church.
