Eugene Benjamin Ziegler

Eugene Benjamin Ziegler (Gene) was born in Pontiac, Michigan on September 25, 1936 to Bill and Verna Ziegler. Gene passed away on April 16, 2021 in Grand Rapids at the age of 84. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 at Hunters Creek Community Church (2471 Metamora Rd., Lapeer), with Joel Caminiti officiating. Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Hunters Creek Community Church. Gene was born and raised in the Pontiac area before attending college at Lawrence Tech, where he studied architecture. He married Jane in 1967 in Elkhart, Indiana where Jane grew up. He later moved from Waterford with his wife and kids to a farm in Lapeer, Michigan where they lived for 39 years before Gene and Jane moved to West Michigan. He enjoyed sailing, train trips, bluegrass music, and visiting Frank Lloyd Wright homes. Gene was a member of Hunters Creek Community Church in Lapeer for 39 years, where he served as Sunday School teacher and deacon, and was also active in various church committees. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Verna, and his brother, Jerry, who passed away two years ago at the age of 80. He is survived by his wife Jane and his four children, Jon (Cynthia), David (Julie), Aaron (Stacey) and Janie Stevens (Phil), and his 10 grandchildren. Memorials may be given to Hunters Creek Community Church.
