Remembering Esther May Wessels
Esther May Wessels, age 97, entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. Esther lived most of her life in West Sayville, New York. At the age of 82, she moved to Sunset in Jenison, Michigan. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Abram J. Wessels. Esther’s favorite place in the world was the home her husband built for her. Esther and Abram were blessed with seven daughters, Suzanne, Esther (Jim), Betty (Alan), Janet (Emery), Lois (Van), Debra (Steve), and Sharon (Larry); 23 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren. Esther loved her family and especially loved having seven daughters. She was a prayer warrior, always praying for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed her final years at Sunset and the wonderful people who cared for her there. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Relatives and friends may meet the family Saturday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Sunset Legacy Foundation.
