Esther Bolkema

Esther Mae Bolkema, age 87, of Wyoming, was taken into the arms of her savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, October 20, 2017.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Bolkema; and her son, Gerry Bolkema.  She will be remembered by her children, Judy and Jake Plantinga, Kevin and Karla Bolkema, Jenna Korenstra and Jim Gould, Bruce and Terri Bolkema; daughter-in-law, Jane Bolkema; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Winifred DeJong, Henrietta DeJong; and many nieces and nephews.  Esther was a lifelong student of the Bible and was blessed to lead the Coffee Break Bible study group for over 20 years.  She and Harold enjoyed taking car trips back home and across the country.  She was a dedicated Christian who devoted her life to following Christ’s teaching. Esther’s family would like to thank the staff of American House Kentwood and Kindred Hospice for their loving care. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Faith Community Christian Reformed Church, 5250 Byron Center SW, Wyoming, with Rev. Roger Groenboom officiating.  Interment Grandville Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday, October 23, from 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and also on Tuesday from noon-1 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
