March 24, 2021

Ernest “EJ” Jay Worst, age 72 of Kentwood, passed away unexpectedly on March 24, 2021. He was born to Charles & Adrianna Worst on October 13, 1948. EJ will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Helen; his children, Chrysta (Bill) McClymont, Charles (Alycia) Worst, Chad (Taryn) Worst; his grandchildren, Jordyn (14), Jacob (10), Adrianna (3) and Jett (1); along with his step-children, Tamara (Mike) Seekman, Amy (David) Platt, Debra (Chris) Engelter; his step-grandchildren, Jeffery (27), Desirae (24), Jacob (24), Hannah (21), Nick (18), Nate (17), and Chase (16); his step-great-grandchild, Parker (6); his siblings, Charles (Mary) Worst, Barb (Mike) Cain. EJ was proud of his children and grandchildren, and loved spending time with them. He had a contagious sense of humor that his family and friends will greatly miss. Ernie loved playing practical jokes, especially on his children and grandchildren. Throughout his life, EJ loved spending time in the outdoors through fishing, hunting, and golfing. It can be certain that he is grateful for all those times spent with his family and friends in the duck blind, boat, or on the golf course. Over the past 5 years, Ernie learned how to navigate social media and bombarded many daily with content that he thought recipients would find amusing. Ernie loved dogs, and the family is thankful that his lab, Lace was nearby when he passed. The family also welcomes memories and messages in the Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf funeral home guest book online.

Dear family, Ernie, a friend of mine from youth 56 years. Remembering sitting around the Worst’s kitchen table eating all those good baked goods. Memories of Ernie’s brother and sister. A former brother-in-law father to my nephews and niece and uncle to my daughter. His smile and laughter unforgettable. I enjoyed Ernie’s company. I am so thankful I share time with his children and grandchildren. Aunt Barb Clark

My thoughts and prayers to the family...just saw Steve and Tim Roobol last week and reminisced about the 4th of July parties at Uncle Chuck's... Ernie was so much fun - a lot of good memories. Rest in peace Ernie!

So long Ernie, want you to know you will be missed by all those that have known you. Remember so many times we would be hunting Deer, Rabbits, Spring Fishing for Perch, Fall for Salmon. We hung together for many years. Just recent we have made contact again and expecting to reunite. Well I think we have reunited and in a more spiritual way. Know you went to Heaven Ernie, you had all the qualifications—just to young.
