Eric Wellington Clark

October 30, 1952 ~
January 26, 2021

Eric Wellington Clark, age 68, of Caledonia and Lowell, passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side on Tuesday, January 26, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara Ockerman and Willis Clark; and granddaughter Alydia Aldaco.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Josh Clark, Noel (Jason) Evans, Allyson Rathbun, Erica (Dan) Denton, Amy Clark, and Elyse Clark (Tim Seif); grandchildren: Naomi, Chance, Molly, Winn, Isaiah, Jaden, Emmet, Sophie, Ayvah and Thomas; siblings: Greg (Barb) Clark, Mark (Cindy) Clark, Debbie (Dick) Shaffer, Jayne (Clare) Sherwood, and Kathy (Ken) Junglas; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his significant other, Wanda Wilfong.

Among many things, Eric was well known for being an extremely talented musician, an avid fisherman, and a teacher to many people throughout his life. A large portion of his teaching career consisted of two decades at Grand Rapids Public Schools, and years of stringed instrument lessons to many friends and family members. Over time, he was also a roofer, a builder and a member of many musical bands. Music was a major part of his life, which was a common connection between him and almost every heart and life that he touched. He will always be remembered for the loving and devoted father, grandpa, brother, son, uncle and friend that he was.

Relatives and friends may meet the family Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 12:30 to 2:30 and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood. Due to gathering restrictions, there will be a limit on the number of people who may enter the building at a time.

So many great memories with the whole family when we were growing up. Many happy times playing music with Eric over the years, just a really good man. He play in The Jades with us every time we could get him to. Debby always asked him to play “Badge” every time he had his guitar. God bless.

So many fond memories of Eric and the Clark family. We were neighbors on Short St, and loved the family. Eric used to walk around Caledonia with my mother, Mary Good. What a beautiful person and very talented musician. He will be missed.

I'm grieved for your loss, and over Eric's final years. We were students at Caledonia Jr. and High School back in the day. May comfort, peace and loving memories carry you through the coming months.
