Emma Carolyn “Carol” VanWormer, age 78, of Croton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, November 27, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gunnar and Emma Bergman; brother, Paul; sisters, MaryAnn and Joanne. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 54 years, Ron; daughters, Tambra (Greg) Sharrock, Kimberly (Bruce) Sweeris, Tina (Mark) Kubas; grandchildren, Cody, Adam, Tucker, Sarrah, Emma, Landon, Wyatt, Jackson; brother and sisters, David, Eva, Joyce, Jeannette; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; several nieces and nephews; many, many friends. Carol was a dedicated and selfless loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had a servant’s heart and gave of her time, talent and treasure to all who needed help. She served as president of the Santa Claus Girls, was a beloved waitress at several local restaurants and was on the Croton Election Board. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Thursday 11 am at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Interment Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 7-9 pm at the funeral home and on Thursday from 10-11 am prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making memorial contributions to Spectrum Health Home Care, Hospice of Michigan, or the Santa Claus Girls.
