Emily Grace Barnes, age 21, of Jenison, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Emily was preceded in death by her grandmother, Dorothy Johnson. Emily will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Curtis and Jill Barnes; grandparents, Max and Linda Barnes, Roger and Martha Johnson; her pets, Fish, Murphy, and Morgan; many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends. Emily had a wicked sense of humor. Emily battled kidney cancer for 10 months and the care she received at Lacks Cancer Center went above and beyond what the family could hope for or imagine. She loved animals, movies, music, and enjoying life. She was a GVSU student and loved learning. Anchor Up! The world is a better place for having had her with us. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 11 am at Chapel Pointe, 3350 Baldwin St., Hudsonville, with Pastor Bob Bloom officiating. Burial Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday, November 2, from 5-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Jenison High School Library.
