Elsie Mae Schafer, age 83, of Jenison, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 19, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William “Bill” Schafer; parents, Case and Rena Wisse; and sister, Ada Hartog. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Elaine and Jack Lewis; Garry and Donna Schafer; seven grandchildren; brother, Donald and Ethel Wisse; sister, Mildred Link; and her extended family and friends. Elsie was born and raised in New Jersey. She was an RN, earning her master’s degree in nursing from Columbia University. Elsie and Bill traveled extensively together around the world. Elsie and Bill faithfully attended Calvin College basketball games with their friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church, 1571 Baldwin St., Jenison, with Rev. Joel Boot officiating. Interment will be held at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Wednesday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to The Potter’s House School.
