Elizabeth VandenBrink

Elizabeth “Betty” VandenBrink, age 88, of Grand Rapids, was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. 

Betty was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Family was the most important to her and she cherished all of the time spent with them. She will be remembered as the glue that always brought the family together and for her home cooked meals that ensured no one went home hungry. 

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, David (Jennifer) VandenBrink, Michelle Balcom, Diane Vincent, Dan Vincent; grandchildren, Aaron (Dalia) VandenBrink, Michael VandenBrink, Ethan VandenBrink, Joshua (Savannah) Balcom, Natalie Balcom, Deven Perry, Mason Vincent; great grandchildren, Oliver, Eleni, Myla, Jace; brother, Ron (Betty) Damer; best friend of 63 years Irma Beerman; as well as her two nephews and their spouses. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Michael and Sophie Damer; her former husband Don VandenBrink, as well as her cousin Franny who was like a sister to her. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 6390 Belmont Avenue NE, Belmont, with Rev. Chuck Schwartz and Rev. Tony Pelak officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Friday, January 2, from 4-6 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont and one hour prior to the Mass on Saturday from 10-11am at the church. The family is deeply grateful to Stonebridge Manor and Optimal Care Hospice for the loving and devoted care shown to Betty. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital.
