Elizabeth Irene Rhoades

Betty was born in Grand Rapids to Walter and Dorothy Duemler and lived there for 100 years.  She moved to West Bloomfield to be closer to her family for the last 14 months of her life. 

In 1946 Betty married Curly and together they raised their two kids, Tom and Kathy. She worked many years at Spartan Stores and spent decades volunteering at Blodgett Hospital and Rogers High School. Bowling, watching sporting events, and spending time with her grandchildren were some of her favorite pastimes.

Betty was preceded in death by five of her nine siblings; Marge, Bob, Mary Jane, Arlene and Jackie. She is survived by her son; Tom, daughter; Kathy and son-in-law, Dwight. She leaves behind six grandchildren and their spouses as well as a multitude of great-grandchildren. Her remaining family includes siblings; Pat, Dick (Beth), Nancy and Janet, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026 at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park Avenue SW, Wyoming with Rev. John Vallier officiating.  Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, January 2, 2026 from 11-12 pm at the church.
