Elfriede Koehler, age 98, of Byron Center, went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 16, 2026. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Inga Citrone, Pete and Kathy Koehler; grandchildren, Noel Citrone, Nick Citrone, Sheila Gonzales, Travis Mack, Peter Koehler, Sonya Koehler, Charles Koehler; many great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Koehler; parents, Max and Anna Widmann; Daughter, Karin and Ralph Spiva; sister, Inge and Horst Hauck. Elfie loved spending time with her church family. A memorial service will be held 11 am Saturday, March 28, at Grace Lutheran Church, 150 50th St. SW, Grand Rapids, with Rev. Zachary Marklevitz officiating. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Grace Lutheran Church.

I was blessed to serve as Elfie's pastor for 10 years but forthe last 15 years to call her and her daughter, Inga, dear friends and family in Christ. She will be greatly missed for her stories, caring, love and her precious hugs. Some say actions are worth a thousand words but her hugs were worth tens of thousand words. Because of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we will see her again in heaven. We look forward to that reunion with Christ and the loving embrace of Elfie at His side. God's peace and rest in the embrace of Christ, Elfie!
