Eleanor TenBroeke

Eleanor TenBroeke (Syswerda), age 93, of Grandville, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, January 30, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Denus (Bud). She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Gary and Susan, Pat Soulis, Dean, Joan and Charlie Frederick, John and Stacy, Jeanne and David Knol; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, John Syswerda; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was a member of Zion Strict Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 11 am at Zion Strict Baptist Church, 1706 Richmond St. NW, Grand Rapids, with Pastor J.K. Stehouwer officiating. Interment Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Trinitarian Bible Society or to Faith Hospice.

We remember Eleanor for her opening her family, home, church fellowship to a young family with 3 children from St. Louis. We were so unsure of everything, but Eleanor was there to help ease our fears. We fondly remember her spunk as well.

I met Mrs. TenBroeke when I was 10 years old, and each time I saw her, she treated me with such kindness...with a warm hug...I will miss that. To her entire family, I am so sorry for your loss. May the Lord comfort you in this difficult time.
