Eleanor L. Myles

Eleanor L. Myles, age 88, of Allendale passed quietly on Sunday, December 23, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; and granddaughter, Kristen Smith. Eleanor will be lovingly remembered by her children, Mary (Jeff) Dixon, Linda (Gene) Smith, Daniel (Laura) Myles, Kathy (Roger) Engvall, Timothy (Lori) Myles; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one due in May; 1 great, great granddaughter; nieces and nephews. Eleanor worked for Brown Home for 25 years. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2018, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Allendale), 6651 Scott Street, with Pastor Shawn Hulst officiating. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday, December 27, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to a charity of one’s choice.

Sunday night I was cutting up potatoes, thinking of you and how you always cut them so finely for your potato salad, when Kath let me know you passed. I cried but at the same time was so glad for no more struggling and that you were reunited with Uncle Chuck. Thanks for being the greatest Great Aunt ever and for not divorcing our mom and us even when your nephew did. Say hi to Glen and Marie, Dodo and Bobbi for us. We will never forget you!

I have so many good memories of your precious mother when she worked at Brown Home. There were many nights that we talked, laughed and yes, sometimes wept. Your mom loved the residents and cared for them in so many ways. I slept well, knowing that Eleanor was keeping watch over our precious ladies. The Lord has welcomed her to her heavenly home saying "well done thou good and faithful servant". Be assured of my sincere sympathy during this time of parting and sorrow. Heaven has gained a beautiful person.
