Helmholdt, Eleanor Maxine HELMHOLDT:  Eleanor Maxine Helmholdt, of Jenison, went to be with her Lord and Savior on her 89th birthday, Saturday, February 18, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald.  She will be lovingly remembered by her children and grandchildren, Barb and Rick Stanley (Amy and Dan Scholma, Jennifer and BJ Goulette, Melissa and Chris Heyboer), Lee and Beth Helmholdt (Julie and Jason Snoeyink, Tricia and Dirk Bakhuyzen), Kim and Paul Young (Patrick Apostol, Calvin Young); 13 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; sisters-in-law, Jean Elzinga, Jennie Helmholdt, Dorothy Helmholdt, Carol Helmholdt; and brother-in-law,  Harvey and Helen Helmholdt.  She was instrumental in beginning the AMKO (American Mothers of Korean Orphans) mothers' club which later became FFIC (Families for International Children), and after retiring, she and her husband, Gerald, were active in a ministry with Mississippi Christian Family Services for over 15 years. A memorial service will be held 11am Monday at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive, with Chaplain Carol Flietstra officiating.   Interment Rosedale Memorial Park.  Relatives and friends may meet the family 10-11 am Monday prior to the service at funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mississippi Christian Family Services.
