Elaine Pierson

PIERSON - Mrs. Elaine R. Pierson aged 88 passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Thursday, September 21, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; parents, Herman and Florence Mulder; brother, Herman Mulder Jr.; sisters, Carolyn Zylstra, Lenore Penninga and Phyllis Klyn. Surviving are her children, Douglas (Jamie) Pierson, Laurie (Terry) Crandall, Luanne (Bruce) Hall; grandson, Andrew Abraham; eight step grandchildren; many step great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Elaine met Gene Pierson after WWII when he returned home. They were married on June 8, 1948. She retired from St. Mary's Hospital where she worked as housekeeping Supervisor for over 25 years. In Elaine's retirement years, Elaine and Gene enjoyed volunteering together at North Kent Senior Center helping with Charity of the needy and delivering meals to area shut-ins. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the Stegenga Funeral Chapel - Wyoming, 3131 S. Division Ave. Her family will greet relatives and friends Monday from 6 to 8PM and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
