Elaine Mae (DeHoog) Veenstra, age 92, was received peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John; and grandson, Kyle Ritsema. Elaine was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who treasured her family. She had a special gift for conversation and unselfishly gave of her time to others. Throughout her life, she was a woman of strong faith, perseverance and love for her Lord. She blessed others with her talents of embroidery and coloring pages which brought her great joy. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jim and Jeri Veenstra, Kathy and Denny Aalderink, Ken and Deb Veenstra; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Evelyn Veenstra; several nieces, nephews and dear friends, many from Cottonwood Church. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive SW with her grandsons, Josh Tovey and Kurtis Ritsema, officiating. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, July 6, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home and also Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to Redemption Church, 2905 Wilson Avenue SW, Grandville.
